Ok I have a 1989 F-150 with the dual tanks. When I switch it over to the rear tank(theres fuel in the front tank) the gauge goes to where it says the gas is but when I leave it on the rear tank for acouple of days the gauge doesnt seem to move, it stays in the same spot. But when I switch it back to the front tank the front tank the gauge is further down than what it was before. So like is it takeing fuel from the front tank instead of the back. And also when I have it switched to teh rear tank it seems to sputter sometimes and eventually it cuts out and dies, so what could this be??
ford guy- im not too familiar with pre-93, but you probably have a 3-line solenoid valve by the frame rail(driver side, right behind the fr. wheel) if you do, i can see it being junk, and your getting weird results on the guage. if its partially junk(partially switching between tanks) it will run something like that. good luck
i forgot something.. if you use the rear tank, does it slowly fill the front one? do you have a 3 or 4 line switching valve? if not, its like mine(uses check valves in the pumps with no switching valve) I'll bet you have a bad switching valve. let me know, as I have some hard won exp. with this. good luck
