I have read where some people criticize the F150 for its low clearance. So I measured it and the lowest point is about 8" from the ground. Is this sufficient? This is my first truck and I was thinking that it would be more than 8." How important/practical is it to have a truck with more clearance? Thanks.

Depends on your use I suppose, 8" is certainly a reasonable amount. If you want to go rock-hopping or severe off-road use (which would possibly include some aspects of farm use for example) then more is always better!

If you've come out of a car then I would guess it won't be a problem. It is worth being aware of the underbody layout and where the low points are, so if you are in marginal terrain it will assist in picking a line through it.

your lowest point of clearance is your rear end pumpkin housing. on all trucks, the only way to raise that clearance is to buy bigger tires. body and suspension lifts do not affect axle clearance. Common sense when you think about it. I did the same thing once
