Question Factory fog light switch????

My wife has a 98 expedition and I have a 99 F-150 she has fog lights, and to turn them on you pull the switch that turns the head lights on. I have the same switch on my f150 and it pulls out, so can i hook up fog lights with out having to wire in a toggle switch???? Is this switch an optional thing to add fog lamps?

Smile Re: Factory fog light switch????

I have a "99 F150 with the fog lights. If I remember right, it was available as part of the off-road package and maybe also some other package. FYI mine is an XLT Supercab 4x4 Off Road.

I would think the switch is the same one...I can't immagine them even stocking 2 separate switches...just think of the overhead! Anyway, I feel like you should definately be able to wire in some after-market fog lights.

The little panel that comes off where the switch is mounted is connected by some VERY FRAGILE little "teets"...be very careful when you pull it out to not break any of them off. I had the instrument cluster replaced, and the mechanics broke some off...I had to glue it back on in order to use the fog lights without using 2 hands.

Good luck!

p.s. remember to disconnect the battery for at least 2 minutes prior to working around the dash. There are several air-bag sensors and electronics under there, and despite what the govt. says, air bags do and will kill! Don't want one of those things going off while you're trying to work on your truck!
