Fuel Endurance

Sort of an odd-ball question:

Will I damage either the engine or the fuel pump if I run a 2004 F150 out of gas? I've always been curious about how far you can go 'below' the E when your indicator says you're out of fuel. I'd like to try it and I will have a couple of gallons of gas in a container with me but am concerned about possible damage to the fuel system.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks! Troy.

Re: Fuel Endurance

It's not good for an electric pump to run out of gas, but won't hurt a mechanical one. No harm to the motor.
