Re: gas problems

Not much to go on here, more info would help. How was it running since the light came on? Are you positive it's not getting gas? Have spark? When was the last fuel filter change? It could be many things. Check fuel pump relay, fuel pump, inertia switch, small ground wire coming off the battery.

Re: gas problems

If the engine turns over then it is getting fuel and you need a new battery. Get the shop to check your fuel line pressure and they can narrow it down after that.

How do you know it is getting fuel just because the engine turns over??

Re: gas problems

Listen for the fuel pump. To do that just turn the key to 'on' and don't start the vehicle. Do keep the window down or the door open of course. I've never heard of a fuel filter throwing a code, let alone going from clear to clogged in four days. As my previous post mentioned; Get the shop to check your fuel line pressure and they can narrow it down after that.

Ummmm..... Errrr..... If the engine turns over (assuming you meant the engine cranks) I sure don't see the need for a new battery.

The first thing to do, if you have the ability and the hardware, is retrieve any stored diagnostic codes. Here's a relatively inexpensive way to do it....

Car Chip

Not too familiar with the gassers (I've driven diesels for quite some time), but you need to check fuel pressure at either the throttle body or the rail, depending on how your engine gets its fuel. Also, after cranking, pull a spark plug to see if it's wet with gasoline..... you may be getting fuel but no spark.

Re: gas problems

True. The car chip looks like an interesting accessory (or tool!).
