HELP!! all my blinkers and brake lights stop working - Ford Forums

i have a 87 f150 and all my blinkers and my brake lights stop working.my headlights and rolling lights work in the back.does anybody have any clue.thank you for any help

Have you checked the fuses? This would be the first step. fyi, there are fuses under the dash and under the hood.

yeah im going to have to agree with thefonz with that! i had the same thing happen to me and it was the fuse in the dash...put a new one in and see how it works, if it works good job but if it blows again you got your self a bad wire somewere along the line.

ive replaced the all and they still dont work how many are there? am i missing any?are there any other solutions.the bulbs are all good. thanks for your help

If you replaced fuses, were they blown?
If you turn on the turn signals or emergency flashers, do they work in the front of the vehicle?

Mabe check the contacts, and mabe just check all ur wiring going to the back of the truck.

no they dont anywhere if i turn them on.not even the arrows on the dash work.the fuses were already good i just replaced them just in case.

yeah idk man sounds like you got yourself a big wiring problem...you dont by chance have alot of mice around were you keep your truck parked do you... a buddy of mien had a chevy 1500 and one day it dint start or even show signs of life and it turned out to be a mouse made a nest by the steeing collom and chewed alot of wires up... just a idea hope it helps???? i could just be a loose wire who knows.... let us know what yu find out...

thanks everybody for the help.i checked the brake and emergency fuse with the test light and it was good but the other side wasnt.so i replaced that fuse and the brake lights came on and emergency flashers.then i replaced the turn flasher relay and now all the turn signals work? thanks again everybody

I had some kind of animal eat through several wires in the engine compartment. Fortunately, they were out in the open so it was easy to solder new ones in place of the missing pieces. This was quite a surprise, I have never had it happen before even though we have a fair amount of wild small animals around here.
