Help on engine type

Recently bought a mint condition 1979 F100 and trying to ascertain the motor specs and more about it.

Having owned a few 351 Clevelands in the past (in sedans) I am atleast familiar with the clevo motor.

I'm guessing that all Ozzie F100's were fitted with a 351C option and not 351M/400 as per their State's counterparts.

Do you guys know anything about the F100's that were exported to Australia and the engine options?

Details from the compliance plate is:
July 1979
Engine # is AL4KWS 69137 K
Model # 64922
Engine C
Trans L
F Style Side Box

What has got me a bit stumped is - though the motor looks like a cleveland - it is different in some key ways to 351 clevelands found in sedans over here in 1979, so I'm now not so sure if it is a Cleveland - as I have never since a 351M up close and am not sure the visible external differences.

In other Australian cars around 1979 the Clevelands were specified quite differently - all had electronic ignition, 4.6L sump, ran the oil sender from the rear of the block.

My F100 has a 7L sump, oil sender is down near the oil filter and it came with points ignition.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help on engine type

the m motor is about an inch taller, visible as a raised section around the thermostat housing, an an inch wider, making the manifold wider.

Re: Help on engine type

also, my sender is in the normal position, but i always run an idiot light next to the filter anyway. by the time the guage, at the back of the motor, works out there is no pressure, it is all over. your sump, like mine, has front and rear sumps, and on about a 45 degree ange, to clear the front pumpkin.
