HELP How to change the Diff oil 89 f150

Hi guys

I want to change the oil in my diff as it is starting to single spin in the wet.
I have the oil, I know it needs 2.6ltrs, i have the tools.
but i got under it today & i cant find the Fill plug??

I assume that the bottom bolt is a drain plug.

Has any one got a service manual or done it b4

Re: HELP How to change the Diff oil 89 f150

There's no drain plug on the rear diff. The only way to change the lube is to remove the cover with a catch pan under the differential. After you drain the lube, clean the cover and bolts up real well and use a silicone sealant on the bolt threads and the cover to ensure a leak free installation. They make gaskets for it as well.

If it is in fact a limited slip, be sure to add the friction modifier available at any Ford dealership for a few bucks. It's required for "Traction Lock," aka posi Ford rear ends. If it is a posi and you're only spinning one wheel, odds are that the clutch pack/friction discs are just worn out and need to be replaced.

Isn't there a filler plug at the top of the diff at the front. I'kk have to have a look but i think you stick a ratchet into it and undo it.
