Everytime it rains, I cannot get the truck started. I will have water all over the driver's side floor mat, the emergency brake pedal is wet AND I will have water dripping off of the pull up handle on the driver's side. I've only had the truck a month and we didn't have much rain. Now it's been raining a lot and I can't use my truck ! The one time I was able to get it started I could hear hissing sound coming from the dash-so I shut it off, thinking that my electrical system could be frying. Does anyone know if this is a common thing in the '01s due to the way the windshield is set in? Does anyone know how this could be fixed ? Does anyone know how the water is getting into the cab by the emergency brake?

I had a similar problem with my '00 F350. The problem was the left side windshield seal. Water would leak in during rain and at the car wash. Sometimes PCM would get wet, and dash panel lights would go crazy. After numeorus attempts to seal, the shop finally pulled windshield and replaced all seals and sealants. I've had no problems since.

I had the same problem but I fried a lot of electrics before we found the problem. On my truck, the window was installed at the factory without primer and over time, became lose and leaked small quantities of water into the electrics. If you go to a glass installer, have them check for the primer and if not primed, document it. Ford will not do anything but, you never know down the line. Good luck

Crabby-No permanent damage to the PCM after getting wet? I haven't yet gotten the truck to the shop to reseal the windshield but now the dash will blink on & off intermittently and the lower lights in the bumper won't go on at all. Fuse is ok, so I don't know what's going on. Any ideas? BTW-Thanks for your help.

Did you have to replace any of the electronic stuff or did it dry out enough to work?

I had to replace everything at my cost. The front window had to be taken out and resealed. I had to replace the fuse box and attached electronics. I salvaged the fuses though. :-)

I also had to replace the blower and the door locks along with the anti-theft device. All due to water coming in the front window because it was not properly installed at factory. You will find that the water is usually minimal and intermittant and it will dry out until it either corrodes or shorts out an electrical piece of equipment.

Ford refuses to discuss the matter and bans me from their website, a website that is declared as something for the owner of Fords to have input. Guess they don't want anyone to know about the problem. There are at least 10 official complaints to the Department of Transport on record as well.

Good luck but you have to fix the window or you'll continue to have problems.

Other than reset and seal windshield I did not have to repair/replace anything. I directed a fan so that it blew into and under the dash. I left it overnight. There have been no additional problems.

I tracked my water leak to the gasket on the roof mounted brake/bed light. It would drip down from there, and run under the carpets on the floor. The gasket was bent when originally installed. I used RTV to seal it, and have not had a problem since. Good Luck

Trust me, if you found water under the dash on the drivers side, replace the fuse box. I had to cut my old one apart. I was suprised I did not have more problems than I did. Yes it did dry out and I used a whole can of contact cleaner. I will see If I can post a photo of it here. It cost $900 or so to have the dealer replace it. The fuse box came with the fuses already in it and I installed it in about an hour. It cost me about $200 with tax and all. If you had/have this problem fix the leak, then get a new fuse box.

Had a problem with floor mat getting wet. Shop could not find problem. I found that water was running down a cable through the firewall. The cable was covered by the carpet and difficult to find the problem. The grommet was apparently to large and allowed water to seep in on cable. Fix was applying silicone.
