Good start. Soak the bolts with Liquid Wrench or similar before starting, they can really be tough. Use a very high quality 6 point socket. You will be putting a lot of force on the bolts to get them out and a lesser quality socket will slip and damage the head of the bolt. A 6 point socket is less likely to slip too, I wouldn't use a 12 point. You may also need several sizes of extension and possibly a flexible socket extension.
When reassembling, I always use anti-seeze compound on every bolt. Torque them correctly.
