confused ignition spins all the way around

my ignition spins all the way around and my pickup wont start dont know what is wrong.

you need to give some more specifics on what it's doing do you have spark? do you have fuel things like that can't help you if i don't know all the situations

I have seen this before. The outer shell that the key slides through has become worn. This allows you to turn the outer shell without a key in it, but it will not turn the actual lock cylinder.

By now, I am pretty sure hunter15 has figured it out.
