You are talking right up my alley. We do this at work all the time. You can use 1967-79 F-100 power steering box, and yes you do have to change the column too. The power box itself is about 3 1/8" longer than the old manual box so you need the shorter column. The only problem you will face is the 3 speed on the column. Finding a truck with power steering and 3 speed on the column is right out there with that needle in that hay stack. However you can shorten your column, but this is very tricky. You can take some of the distance out of the steering shaft between the box and the column, and take the rest out of the column. This will barely leave you enough room for your 2 shifter arms under the hood not to hit the firewall. You can also change to an automatic, or go to a floor sift to make it simple.
