Hey Ya'll,

I have a 1992 F-150 and i jus bought some 31's for my truck. I measured from the ground to the chrome trim piece of the fender lip and its 33 inches and i was wondering if i needed to put a lift kit on my truck so the tires wont rub on the inner fender or the wheel wells. and if you could tell me how big of a kit i would need that would be very much apprecitated

It sounds like it will be a tight fit.

I needed tire clearance on my '94, so I had front coils from an F250 installed, and re-arched the rear leaf springs (plus added a leaf) to give me an extra 1.5" all around. It was cheaper than a lift kit and was done by my local spring shop in less than a day.

It might be alright. Remember that some of the "height" will be below the center of the wheel. For example if the new tire is 2 inches bigger it will only be 1 inch closer to anything in the fender well because the 2 inches is split between each side of the wheel. I hope this makes sense. One problem might be the width. I put 33X12's on a jeep and the height worked fine with the lift i had but I had to get new wheels with more of an offset to keep them from rubbin on the inside when i made sharp turns.

so if you were to put the leafs off of a f350 would that be somewhat considered a lift kit cuz of the heavier leafs or would that weight it down a lot, this is the same dude that posted the lift kit, i jus forget my password cause my memory is shot, blame that on coors light, and jack daniels. but would that weight it down a lot and make me sink in the mud or not

I don't know if F350 leafs will fit at all. The frame and attach points may be different enough that it may require cutting and rewelding the leaf mounting points to properly position the axle. Then as to weight, I have no idea about the difference in weight of F350 leaf spring set, but I'm sure they weigh more, but not so much that just that change would make you sink in the mud .... but if you can make 'em fit I have to believe the ride would be terrible...., maybe uncontrollable bounce or shudder in the rear...

I used '94 F250 coils in the front and had my stock F150 rear leaf sets rebuilt, including replacement of the base spring with a heavier spring and had the whole set "re-arched" (which increased the ride height of the vehicle).
