no gauges 1997 f150 sup 4x4

I bought a 1997 f150 supercab 4x4 a week ago. was driving it yesterday parked it about 5mins got in would not turn over ( battery dead) jumped it off drive about 1/2 a mile , dead again, but this time saw i had no gauges (gas, alt, speed, tac,or anything) but when i jumped it everything came on and went off when i remove the jumper cables. Ok bad alt. so had it checked (bad ) got anew one (brand new) put i on, ran fine yesterday today driving around came home went to park it and saw no gauges. can anybody help me

have check my fuses and it is good please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check connections, especially grounds. Verify that the alt. is putting out like it should. New doesn't always mean it is good. Verify battery condition good also.

hey guys and gals finally find out what was wrong! it was a fuse (#19) but it keeps blowing, only thing i see out of wack is fuel gauge dose not read right i sould have about half a tank but it read 3/4 and later went tofull awhile later blown fuse could it the fuel gauge and can it be replaced w/o replacing the whole panel

It is possible, but not likely to be the gauge itself. It is more likely to be a short in the wiring harness from the sending unit to the gauge. You will have to get under the truck and follow the wiring from the gas tank along the frame rail (driver side) looking for a short. Take your time and check it closely. Some of it is hard to see as it is in a plastic "armor" tube and is attached with clips to the inside of the frame rail.

thanks for your reply i found the problem yesterday it was the wiring behind the cluster it was not all the way in it was workin fine yesterday have not been out today
