Hey 351, I was looking through the galleries and saw a fram oil filter.
You may not be using them anymore but i'd thought i'd post these up for some reading

I found this quite interesting
"Now their standard filter (the radioactive-orange cans) is one of the worst out there. It features cardboard end caps for the filter element that are glued in place. The rubber anti-drainback valve seals against the cardboard and frequently leaks, causing dirty oil to drain back into the pan."

You may not agree but i thought i would post just in case.

great that will be useful info for someone some day.
i have tried several different oil filters over the yrs and really dont know of any that are really as good as they claim to be.

I've read a lot of opinions, personal experiences, as well as unbiased tests of the various filters on the market and as long as you stay away from Fram you're doing good. Frams are notorious for restricting oil flow enough to cause lifter noise and have actually been responsible for destroying an engine when the filter element collapsed. The collapsed element plugs up the main oil galleries causing loss of oil pressure and severe engine damage. Just as a note, the Penzoil filters are actually a Fram.

Fram's anti drainback valve are also famous for leaking.....allowing unfiltered oil to drain back into the oil pan. Not exactly ideal.....

For your Ford, Motorcraft filters are a great filter with a reasonable price. Purolator, Mobil 1, and NAPA/Wix are also excellent filters.

yes most of the filters i have used for the past 2 yrs now have been wix filters but i have seen several of them leak around the crimps as well.
i am going to a major NHRA meet this weekend (lucas oil nationals) and i plan on walking around the pits and seeing what brands of parts they are using crrently.

I've been using the motorcraft filters without any prob;ems and i didn;t no that about penzoil filters.

i just put in a fram PH8A , thanks for the info, wont use that filter again
