peculiar ignition problem

My 86 f-150 5.8 liter runs fine once she is started, but when I shut her down and then try to start her again with too short a time, like five minutes, she won't start. When that happens all I have to do is sit there another five minutes or so and she'll start. Odd, huh? Starter is cranking fine, and I just put a new coil in, and there's a relatively new starter relay switch. Has anyone had this particular problem?
