Now I could be wrong on this, but I believe the XL package was most commonly the economy version; hence why they usually had 4.6l motors. However, these were also the most common version for fleet services and as such were practically custom made to order. If the truck has the 9.75 rear end instead of the smaller 8.8, then its the original motor and not an after thought. But just because edmunds or kelly blue book don't list the option doesn't mean that it wasn't produced.
