Question Re-pack hubs on 1991 F150 4x4

Just repacked the hubs on my 1991 F150 4x4. Followed Chilton manual. Used Mobil 1 synthetic grease.

How hot should the hubs run? I failed to check how hot they were before. Now they get almost too hot to hold a hand on after driving 3 miles at 45 to 50MPH. Is that normal? Or should I go back in and re-check bearing adjustment?

They will get warm but brake application can cause the heat too.Recheck lock nut on wheel bearing because increased preload will cause the heat aswell.
