Question re-packing hubs

Are there any tricks when re-packing the front 4x4 hubs on a 1987 f-250? Or are there any things I need to be especialy careful of? Any advise would be very helpfull. Thanks!!

Re: re-packing hubs

I cant really help but i'd say get a haynes or chilton manual and follow the instructions carefully and i dont think you would have a problem.

Re: re-packing hubs

no special tricks that i know of just be sure to work grease into all the wheel bearings and use plenty of it, better to have plenty than not enough !!!
make sure to rub a light coat on the O-ring seal before you place the actual hub back on so you dont ruin the O-ring or it will surely leak grease out on your wheels.

Re: re-packing hubs

oops i forgot to tell you that the ford requires a special tool to remove those goodies from inside the hub. also comes in to play when you tighten the wheel bearing back up.
