"Rear Antilock" Idiot Light - Ford Forums

Great site. I just found out about you guys from your friends at Chevy Talk. (I have a 57 Chevy Handyman 2 door wagon along with an 02 Explorer and 90 F150.) My question is the "rear antilock" idiot light is always on on my truck. Any idea how to get it to go off besides taking it to the dealer? I tried slamming on the brakes in the rain in an isolated parking lot and they didn't lock up if that makes any difference. Thanks....

Generally, you would have to get a scan to find the problem. It could be the rear wheel speed sensor or wiring.

id say take it to the dealer... if its an older truck its a whole different ABS system, its on the axle insted of the wheel... to see if it really works its better to try on snow... ABS is sumtin u can hear more than anything... hope i was of some help

The dealer is the one that caused the problem. I took it in to have the switch between gas tanks replaced and when I picked it up the light was on. I solved the problem by placing a piece of electrical tape over it....

LOL good idea... but in all honesty id take it back to em cause if it is messed up its sumtin you dont want to fail... you need brakes. If the dealer broke it they need to fix it... tell em if they dont fix it you want a new truck =D

I've got a 98 F-150. The little ABS light has been on for as long as i can remember, ran a scanner on it and it ended up being a $15 sensor or something cheap. ABS works fine and i never replaced the sensor which i need still need to do. This what you mean by idiot light?
