ARRRRGGG!!
Been at it about 6 hours now!
Have the engine lifted as far as it will go with the tranny mount nuts removed and the upper intake removed.
The tranny is in the way!!! I don't care what the book says, you HAVE to slide the tranny back. There is simply not enough room for the pan's sump, between the motor cradle and the tranny to maneuver it out. I even unbolted the sump and completely removed the oil pump.
I need to remove the pan to inspect the rod bearings. I may have been able to inspect them the way it is, BUT ...I dropped my wrench in the pan along with the oil pump shaft and cannot retrieve either!
So now tomorrow I need to unbolt the AOD and slide it back.
I would just pull the motor if it weren't for the gravel carport!
