hey I'm new here and have read only a fraction of the fourms, but i have a 05 supercrew, with the 4.6L and have a squealing/whistleing sound coming fome some where, any one else have this problem or have herd of cures for this?
I have a 2004 Supercrew with a 4.6 l engine and I have the same squealing/whistling noise. I brought it back to the dealer when it had 50,000km and he said it was a valve design issue and there was nothing yhey could. It was hardly and acceptable answer but I don't live near another dealer to get a second opinion. Have you found out anymore on this problem.
Sounds like a pully. If a surpentine belt is used then odds are the Idler Pully is probably bad. Replacement pully's are sold and you can do it yourself. Caution I think the mounting bolt is a left handed thread.
Someone else had mentioned the serpentine belt to me but it only does it when it is extremely cold out. -6deg celsius or colder. Does that make a difference?
