which type of fuel pump in my 87 f150?

I have an 87 f150 F/I 302 v8 w/ EEC. How can I tell if I have a mechanical or the electronic fuel pump?

i'm pretty sure if no one has put an electric pump in it then it is mechanical. but one way is when you come to a stop or accelerate does your gas gauge on the dash move suddenly? if so then its a mechanical pump.

If you have electronic fuel injection you will have an electric pump (low pressure) inside the fuel tank, and attached to the frame rail approximately under the cab you will have a high pressure electric pump. You can usually here them pump up when you turn on the ignition switch.
