USA: Ford Ups F-150 Production
George Pipas, a Ford spokesman, confirmed that Ford is boosting production of the SuperCrew models at its Kansas City truck assembly plant. In addition, both the Kansas City and Norfolk assembly plants have completed their acceleration and are now operating at full speed, and have scheduled overtime to keep up with demand for the new F-150 pickup truck.
Launch success
Meanwhile, William Clay Ford Jr. said, so far, the launch of the new F-150 has been a been an unqualified success. Ford plans to start building F-150s in a third plant next summer when the new assembly plant at the company's Rouge complex comes on line.
"The customer acceptance on the new F-Series has been terrific," William Clay Ford Jr. said last week. "It's doing everything we had hoped it would. Every transaction price is very high and we are selling a very rich mix. I expect that will start to change. Any time we launch a new product, we tend to launch with a richer mix than you end up with," he said.
