My '87 F150 5.0 with dual gas tanks does an odd thing. I can't put gas in the front tank. Usually if I take the cap off that tank gas gushes out as if it were filled to the brim. The rear tank works fine. I suppose gas is moving from the rear to the front tank in some manner, but I don't know how or what I should do about it. I've thought of setting the selector on front and just running it until the engine stops, but I'm concerned about burnng up the fuel pump. Any ideas appreciated.
Just spoke to him. He said that he has not had this issue but has heard of it. He stated that it could be the dual tank valve that is causing the 2nd tank to flood out the front tank.
As far as the fuel coming up the fuel neck it could be the pressure that is causing that in direct correlation with the rush of the fuel between the tanks.
I can ask a Ford Tech later tonight when he stops by.
