Where Are The Option Codes?

Hello everyone!! I'm new here and want to introduce myself and get some info. from you guys. I just sold my 64 vette and my 01 Zo6. I just bought a 2001 F-150 crew cab 4x4 Lariat a couple of hours ago. Please forgive my bowtie past and let me join in peace. I'll never mention it again. So, I really don't know the deep details of what non obvious options this truck has. It has all the basic stuff that you would see and like but I'd like to know more about it. Where are the option codes? ( like what payload rating and what diff. ratio). Once I find them where can I find a listing of what they mean? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

I think you can go to cars.com, edmunds.com, and or autotrader.com to get some of the info your looking for. I don't belive I posted any articles about the 2001 F-150 here or in Ford World Wide News. I did a search and didn't find anything on that model year here. I can't belive you sold a 64 Corvette, that car is just way to good looking to sell.

Thanks for the reply. I seem to be having trouble finding this information but if I have to I'll drive down to my local Ford dealer and ask their help. Yea, the 64 was cool. 440 hp and it only weighed 2900 pounds. Looking back I sold some great cars also, 55 Chevy, 57 Chevy, 66 Mustang(bought new) And a beautifukl little 31 model A pick up with a small block Chevy engine. Don't have the money to keep all of them. Oh I almost forgot my (also bought new) 61 pontiac Catalina with factory mags, tri-power and four speed. Good part is you never know what might be next!!

When you find the option codes (some are included in the VIN number and others on the build plate) post them here and I'll look them up for you.

Cheers
Russ

Hey Russ!! Here they are. VIN#1FTRW08L11KE52422. Axle=RC-24. Next to that on the left is R8. Next to Axle on the right is TR U.
I hope that is enough to do the job. Thanks for the help. Tom

The 55 and 57 Chevy's are great classic cars. I had a 66 Mustang as well, but I didn't buy it new. Car was 20yrs. old by the time I got it. My neighbor across the street has a 66 Catalina. I know spring is here when he brings out of storage. Matter of fact he brought it out last Monday.

They were fun cars. The one thing I didn't do was rent one of the Mustang Shelby GT 350's. Back in the sixtys they used to rent them and guys would take them to the drags and flog them all weekend and then take them back on monday. We used to call them Hertz rent a racers. Should have done it.

Yep I read an article about that years ago in Mustang mag. If I had been alive at the time. I would have done it.

OK - from thr VIN:

1FT = Ford USA Truck
R=Model
W08=F150 4x4
L=Engine 5.4L SOHC Petrol
11=Govt assigned check digits
KE=Manufacturing Plant (Kentucky Truck)
52422=sequential build number

None of the others match anything in my book.

Reading across the top of the Vehicle compliance label you should have the following:

This vehicle complies etc. etc.
Under that the VIN
Under that the type

Then the following three lines:

Ext Pnt XXXXX RC XX DSO XXX - note these are all written beside and not under the code.

On the next line the codes are under the descriptor:

WB BRK Int TM TP/PS R AXLE TR SPR

right at the end of that line is a double row number that deals with powertrain calibration information.

Cheers
Russ

Thanks a million Russ. I think this post should have a handwritten copy of most of the Veh. Cert. If you would be so kind, have a look and tell me if you see anything weird.
