2001 E-150 5.4L blown spark plug

My 2001 Ford E-150 with a 5.4L blew a spark plug out this weekend (5/4/2008). This is with 113k miles.

It is clear that this is a major problem with 5.4L engines. Just use google and search for "blown spark plug".

I called my dealer and they won't help since its over 100k miles. I called Ford Customer Relation Center and all they do is look up warranty and recall info. They say Ford is clearly not interested in helping with this problem.

So far, no one at Ford cares that their engines blow out spark plugs in what looks like a large number of vehicles. When you are missing a spark plug, the engine runs very rough AND it pumps unburnt fuel into the hot engine compartment. Gee, I wonder if this is a safe condition?

Quality is job what?

Re: 2001 E-150 5.4L blown spark plug

My family and I just experience the same while driving on vacation to California
I own a 2003 Expedition with 80k miles.
The repair + towing was $950.00
I can’t image the cost impact if this had occurred while driving through the desert of CA
not to mention the emotional impact it would have had on us.
This vehicle has been prone to repairs from day one
At this point in my life, I will never own another Ford.
