Good Day. My van slips out of gear on occasion. I had this problem last summer & I don't know if temperature has anything to do with it. Tranny has plenty of fluid at the right level, filter gasket changed recently but the other day for the first time in a year I'm going 80Km an hour and it starts slipping. When the tranny engages again it's with a big lurch. Now for the last 3 days it's fine. Happened last year when we were highway driving but it wasn't hot out. Three days ago was the first time it happened again, and it was hot out. The check engine light has been on continuously for years & my mechanic can't find anything causing it. Thanks for listening.

If the light is on, it should be able to be found. I'd find another mechanic to see what's up. The engine has to be running before any trans testing can be done.

Thank you. That seems to make a lot of sense because the surging problem started happening the same time I had trouble with the shorts. I need to visit a more thorough mechanic. Maybe I've just been thrown quick answers by a lazy mechanic. Thanks again. Vic
