94 clubwagon skips from 2nd to overdrive... ???
Hi all,
I just purchased my first Ford vehicle. It is a 1994 E150 clubwagon. I am a courior in the midwest and purchased it to haul medical supplies and other things long distances.
The van is in excellent condition. Only 149,000 miles. the engine was replaced with a brand new factory engine 12.000 miles ago.. ( never got the story on why, but they paid $5,000 for it and install )the only real issue it has is a slight shifting issue.
When starting from a stop, it will start out as normal... 1st, then 2nd, but then it wants to skip 3rd, and go immidiatly into overdrive. If i turn off the overdrive, it acts like it cant figure out which gear to go into... Although, with overdrive active, and i step on the gas to get it to downshift, it seems to do what it should....
I have been looking at youtube videos on ford transmissions, and it seems that the mid 90s had an issue with the valve body gasket failing at a certain point causing shift problems, but the problems listed dont really match mine.
I was thinking it is maybe a shift solinoid....? it isn't slipping.... and it drives ok, it is just annoying....
Any Ideas? Anyone?
