HI: got a 99 van w/ 5.4 motor. red color coolant leaking from front above crankshaft. Tryed to check water pump, cound not get fan blade off pump.
Didn't see any water leaking from pump weep hole on top of pump.
would like to get fan off and shround and see better.

repair manual mentions special wrenches, can't see how they would go on pump? Any thoughts...

The big nut on the fan shaft is right hand thread. They get pretty tight. I usually use an air hammer to hit the edge of the nut to loosen it, then use a wrench or by hand. Remove the upper shroud plastic rivets and then take it out of the way. The coolant doesn't usually come out the top hole.
