diesel problems

I have 20 e450s 2006 to 2008. I'm having problems with fuel filters, pumps and tanks.
Dealer says "you need to change the fuel every 10K, not the 15K the book says."
Next he is telling me, "only diesel before 1994 can use bio-diesel."
Half of my fleet uses bio the other half does not. Half of the fleet fuels at DK Burke in Chelsea MA, the other half in Worcester MA.
Is anyone else having fuel problems.
I had to have 2 fuel pumps and one fuel tank replaced so far.

Re: diesel problems

Are you running biodiesel in the truck currently? Manufacturers don't recommend putting more than 15% biodiesel mix into the tank. This is because methanol is added to biofuel and it deteriorates hoses and other rubber parts that are found in pumps, such as seals and lines. If you are running bio fuel, replacing the filter every 5K seems more appropriate as bio fuel isn't filtered as well as diesel #2 in all cases. Running regular diesel you should be able to adhere to Ford's recommendation of changing the filter every 15K. If Ford wanted you to change it at 10K it would specify 10K in the owners manual. I'd say the dealer is trying to make a few extra bucks...on the other side, he might know something you don't about any warranty claims with fuel filters changed at 10K instead of 15K. I'd check with another dealer (or two) if they're nearby.
