E-350 or a pickup?

I need to buy a vehicle that will be used for carrying and towing. I would also like to be able to use it to go camping. The two vehicles I am considering are an extended E-350 and an F-350. My preference is for the van because it would be easy to use it as a simple camper when camping but camping is the secondary purpose. Will an E-350, with a suitable suspension towing package and v8, be able to tow 5,000 pounds safely? or is a pick-up going to do the job better?

Either one will tow the same. The only difference would be a 5th wheel trailer only able to be towed with the pickup.

Pretty sure the E has less distance axle to ball than the F.

I was also in your position and decided on the E, with a cummins 5 speed
