Exclamation 1996 Probe Problems

so i have a 96 probe se and i've had it since march. up until a few weeks ago it was running great i loved the car and i was going everywhere. now after fixing my brakes, my car sounds and smells like im driving a go cart. i had a friend check under the hood one nite and the engine was red hot it seemed like we didnt even need a flashlight to look. and under the engine there was things melted. when i started the car it started shooting little flames up by the engine.

please tell me whats wrong bc i know its not safe for me to drive it right now but i have to this is my only means of transportation.

Re: 1996 Probe Problems

Was it doing that when it was first started or when the engine was hot? Is it noisey like an exhaust leak? The brakes shouldn't have had anything to do with that. Maybe the exhaust came loose.
