You'd think it would be easy! The bulb has gone on the brake light positioned high on the rear window. I've got a Hayes manual but it shows the housing having detachable sides - maybe different year model? I've got a '93 & the plastic moulding around the light doesn't have any breaks in it at all so I think the whole panel needs to come off in order the access the bulb? The panel extends across the length of the back window and a couple of inches down the side. Is this the case? There's only one plastic holding screw I can see which is positioned directly under where the bulb would be.

I think the trim is clipped in so some gentle force can remove it whatever you do DON'T BREAK THE SUCKER it will be expensive

I get nervous now trying to unclip it :) Do you think the top section unclips by itself or I should trying uncliping the housing lower down? i.e. including the panel which has the rope tie points for the boot cover. It's not so user friendly!

Got the mechanic to pull the panels off (which he said wasn't the easiest of tasks) and what do you know...there's no wiring or housing to even install globes. After a bit of dicking around he worked out that the wiring loom was being used by the integrated brake light on the rear spoiler...so it would appear the rear window brake light was never hooked up. You can purchase the wiring & connectors for AU$65 through Ford however I'll try the U.S. first...maybe someone is wrecking a Probe and I can get it cheaper? For interests sake the mechanic said there was an adaptor with 2 plugs (there's usually only one plug) so he assumes if I got the parts it would easily plug straight into the electrics.
