94 Ford GT. Surging Idle. What could it be?
I recently bought a '94 probe last fall. In the Winter in Edmonton, it was fantastic to drive!! But now in the summer I noticed my idle surges higher from 1200-1600 when I'm in stop and go traffic, or when I hit a few red lights in a row. I constantly have to keep/think about my foot on the brake!
When I come through streches of open road I speed up to 70km/h for a minute or two, I notice it helps my idle go down to a lower rpm around 800-1000... but only to go slowly back up when I hit congested traffic again.
Could this be due to a buildup of carbon in the throttle body? Or maybe a small vaccum leak somewhere? Maybe EGR value/ bad IAC? I love this car, but its becoming a huge safety concern on the road. Winter was great as my idle stayed constant, but summer is a whole different situation with these hotter temperatures!
Any help? Or has anyone had this similar type of problem? The car has 150,000k.
