Anyone know how to make a skid/snow plate? - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I found out tonight my car likes to pick up snow if I have to drive through drifts. I got me thinking about attempting to make a plate to bolt onto the crossmembers to keep the snow out. Does anyone know how to go about designing and building such a thing? Thanks.

make a prototype out of cardboard and figure out where you want it to bolt to etc.

yeah that would be sweet, the 3.0 would make a good rally car! You get all the torque and power when you need it most, around corners and such.. Pin? What are your plans?

Nah, I no longer think a skid plate is necessary at all. The one time I had trouble was in December when I had to drive through deep snow drifts. I got snow packed in all around the engine, including my air filter. Since then there has never been that much snow on the ground this winter. From now on I will either just not drive when it snows so much or take a different vehicle.
