someone please help me. this is the deal. it stopped shiftin into 3rd, then 3 weeks later it stopped shiftin into 2nd, then 3weeks later reverse stopped workin, can anyone tell me what this could be...? could it be a cloogged up system, could it need flushed, could a vaccum line be broken... plz dont tell me its broke lol
Could be anything at this point from a stuck solenoid to vacuum line to discs/bands that are fried to just about anything. BUT it is safe to say that you should not have driven it nor should you continue to until it is repaired. it could be something small, but if you are losing more and more it is safe to say that you probably are looking at a complete rebuild.
i havent driven it, i just bought this car today for 200$, it came with a full bodykit and such, well worth the money, but u think ill hv to rebuid it., how hard is it to pull the tranny out, i bulled them outta hondas, are the anything like them?
i dont know nothin bout fords or v6 s, lol ive been drivin an integra for 2 years, so honda is all i know lol. oh well, ill flush the tranny out tommorrwo to see how that goes
Most FWD trannys are pretty much the same in terms of removal. You'll have to remove the starter, subframe, torque converter nuts, any wiring on top of the tranny/sensors/tranny cooler lines/etc. Also you will have to pull the axles. First pull the dipstick and check the condition and level of the fluid. If it is low, top it off. If it's dark and smelled burned you may likely need a new tranny.

Not sure how it is on your Probe, but you may also need an engine brace to hold the motor in place when you pull the tranny. Not sure if yours can be pulled underneath or from above either. What kind of Probe do you own?
