I bought my first ford, a '95 Probe GT about a week ago. Last night on my way home from work the alternator belt snapped. I purchased a replacement from the local AutoZone to replace it at 39.5" w/ AC. When i tried to install, the belt was about an inch too large. Anyone know the appropriate size for this belt.

okay, belt wasn't really the problem, something more serious is. My crankshaft pulley has all the little ribs wore off on it... so the belt won't stay on. I am now wandering if there is any way to replace the harmonic balancer without pulling the engine as most repair manuals show. if so please tell me how

my 1994 had the same probelem all i did was went to autozone rented an alternator pullie took of the right side wheel and panel and it's right there in your face real easy 20 min job

got that problem fixed, then it happened again to the replacement... realized the problem was a bad bearing in the alternator pulling the belt outward. already got that fixed as well. thanx for the input.
