Upon startup in the morning there is an almost whistling sound (not a vacuum hose but sounds like it) that goes away when I engage the clutch.

Is this the throwout bearing telling me it's time to replace?

Usually any noise like that - that goes away when you press in the clutch is a good indication that it's the throwout bearing. But if it happens only in the morning and not through out the day it can be something else. I cannot really help you though without a better description of the noise. Have you popped the hood right after starting it to see where the noise might be coming from?
