Computer code 30. It's Not in the manual!
Here's the problem: '93 Probe, 90k Miles. A couple of weeks ago, the "Check Engine" light started coming on intermittently, and when the light was on, the car would lose part of it's power - say 20 percent. I checked the easy suspects - oil level, filters, did a listen to each injector, new PCV, etc. Nothing apears wrong. It started happening more frequently, so I took it to the dealer I bought it from. They plug it into their diagnostic computer and tell me that it returns a "Code 30". Code 30 is unprecidented in their mechanics experience and is in none of their maintenance documentation, nor does it appear in any reference I can find online. They say that they have tried contacting Ford corprate engineers, but get no response.
The dealer mechanics say that unless I'm willing to just start replacing components, with no guarantee of fixing it, they can't fo anything more and I ought take it and drive it until it comes back with a code indicating a problem they CAN deal with.
