Why was my intake manifold so filthy at 100,000 mi.? I was shocked at the amount of dirt inside the manif. when I had to replace the valve cover gaskets. I know renewing the PCV valve every 6,000 mi. will help but is this a common problem on these engines (KL01) Is there any way to prevent so much sludge coating the IM?

Yeah all KL-03 and KL-ZE engines have "after a while" drity intake manifolds. It's normal, carbon builds up in them. I don't even want to take mine off to see how drity it is. :bwhoa1:

I've taken mine off twice now, and the first time it wasn't too bad. I then re routed my PCV into a K&N breather, and the 2nd time I took it off, it was a bit cleaner.

It's amazing how much crap comes therough the PCV and the EGR systems. That's what makes it so bad. So I rerouted the EGR too...we'll see how it goes.....
