hey, i just bought a used 97 probe se. it's in awesome condition, and i love driving it. it's my first car (i'm only 16), and i'm really happy with it. anyway, i have a quick question - both of my headlights are stuck in the up-position...what are some possible reasons for this? i've heard that it could be stuck hinges, a fuse, or the headlamp motor is dead. if the motor is the problem, do you know how much it would cost to fix? if anyone knows anything about this or has any ideas, i'd really appreciate it... i'm sick of having people tell me i left my headlights on.. :) thanks

it could be any of the items that you listed. Can you hear any attempt to drop them when you try to close them? If not then it would be a safe bet that the motor is either gone or possibly a fuse. Now I am not sure which fuse. i would have to check my manual, which is on the laptop my friend is using.

If it is the motor then you can go to a bone yard and buy some used ones. That is what i would do. Should not cost too much

Each headlight has a motor and you cannot just change the motor you have to change the whole assembly, but I doubt that's the problem. It's either your fuse to your headlight motors "which is in the power box under the hood" or the control module " that controls your headlight motors". If it's the latter, I would suggest finding someone to work on it than do it yourself. Hope this helps you out.
