going 70 on the freeway im revved at 3700-4000 rpm. is this normal? i have a 93 probe gt. does anyone else have this problem? should i not drive on the freeway? will this 4000 rpm for long periods of driving hurt my car?

Re: High Rpm on freeway???

Sounds like it's not shifting all the way up through the gears

Re: High Rpm on freeway???

I would figure 2000 to 2500 going 70 er so...not normal. try to downshit from drive to the next lowest gear(4 to 3). that'll at least tell you if it's in the right gear. the rpm should jump up a bit

Re: High Rpm on freeway???

i thought it was just the gearing on these cars, its 4.39. thats wayyy too high for highway driving. ford should have put lower gearing or made the probe gt a 6 speed.
