You want cold air going into the engine obviously because it's more dense, which equals better combustion...
But in terms of air resistance, the hotter the air is, the less dense it is, which equals less resistance and a faster Probe. The same principle is why they do the land speed records in the desert in the summertime.
So, in order to be your fastest, you should run nitrous in death valley.
