how much will humidity effect our car? The reason that I am asking is that seems that when it is really hot and humid my car runs terrible. Why is this?

I've noticed a big change it the performance in hot and humid conditions. One thing I did was to run a seperate switch to the fan so I can Turn on the fan at anytime. In turn keeping the engin cooler.

When it is hot and humid outside, my car has terrible performance. Its a dog. Its like this for most of us I think. A couple of my friends have the same problem with their PGT's.

The air is less dense when humid out. The Denser the air, the more performance you get.

well, I live in Florida, birth place and home to humidity. It blows big nuts, feel like your swimming when ever you go outside

It's all in your head. :rolleyes: Here's why...

The actual amount of h20 in the air is relatively small... varying from 1% to 4% on average....

And as for heat: your car is FASTER in the heat.... air molecules are more spread out when it's hotter, thus providing LESS air resistance when the car is moving... so much so that it compensates for the loss of combustion from the less dense air, and then some....

There was a GREAT thread about all this humidity/heat stuff in PT.

wind resistance just equals it. the car is still taking in less dense air. its just compensated.

some car magazine did a study about this....

the result was that your car is faster in hotter air. take it FWIW.

Then what is the reason for a "cold air intake" ?

Unless there's something wrong with my PGT I've noticed it's even slower in hot weather.

No no no! :p

You want cold air going into the engine obviously because it's more dense, which equals better combustion...

But in terms of air resistance, the hotter the air is, the less dense it is, which equals less resistance and a faster Probe. The same principle is why they do the land speed records in the desert in the summertime.

So, in order to be your fastest, you should run nitrous in death valley.
