I broke my key in the ignition in my 1991 Ford Probe!! Right now I have every tore out except the steering wheel (that's on there good), but need some more advice on where to go now. I have no other key for it either. I would like to just put an on/off switch with a push button start. Any ideas on which wires I need to pull off to do this? Also how do I disconnect the steering lock. This car is old and ugly(219,000 miles) but it runs like a champ. Any advice I would appreciate

What does that mean?
Here's a thought... Call a locksmith, tell him what's going on, and ask how much to remove broken key and make a new copy.Then you can drive it like normal. It may not be as expensive as you think. How much of the key is broken off?

The locksmith tried today and cannot get the broken portion out. I have removed the steering wheel, panels, etc. to expose the ignition switch.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if you could find/use a really strong vacuum to pull out the piece of key...
