Probe Engine Swap Ideas... - Ford Forums

I am toying with the idea of building up a Ford Probe. I have a 91 Camaro I put a corvette engine in, and now want to do something similar to a Probe. Here is my idea, and please let me know if I'm crazy and it wouldn't work, fit, etc.

I want to take a 93-97 Probe and drop a Ford Duratec 35 engine in it. Thats the engine in the new Ford Fusion Sport. Would something like that even work? Would it fit?? Or would I be better off looking at Duratec 25 4 cyl from a standard Fuzion? My other thought was to use a Duratec 20 out of a new Ford Focus. I figured that one is a 2.0 and the engine in the probes were 2.0 so maybe that would work??

As you all can see, I'm very early in the planning stages now, and want to see if this is all pipe dreams, or if its actually workable... Without too many issues...

OH, maybe the engine out of the new Tarus SHO would fit?? 3.5 liter??

These engines are not really related to the one that came in the Probe - the most popular swap is the Japanese-market KLZE engine.

I have seen some really crazy engine swaps that had V8 swaps and RWD conversions... which are probably easier than the SHO swap would be.
