Rev past 4k RPM's and it cuts off...WTH?
I have a 93 MX6 with the 2.5 v6 which is beginning to stump me. The car drives fine and starts every morning. Problem is that it shuts off when i accelerate a little hard. As i climb past 4k and into 4.5k rpms usually in 3rd gear, it will just suddenly stall. No spurrtering or exhaust noise of any kind, it just stalls, dead. I try to start it back up by releasing the clutch in gear but it rarely ever starts. it ends up taking 1 to 10 minutes to turn back on again. Ive tested spark under no start conditions and it was not present. I can avoid this by not reaching those RPMs but that is not the point. I want to fix this and have already tried:
replaced distributor (good used)
Exact same issue.
replaced TPS after finding it was bad.
Seems to run better, but still stalls at high rpms.
Replaced #1 Injector which was completely dead and tested bad. Problem had been around before stalling issues , but i had simply not gotten to it.
I started thinking perhaps the dead/open circuit injector was causing an issue with the ECM because it was not firing. Engine now runs great again on all 6 cyls but still stalls at high rpms.
Cap, rotor, plugs, and wires were also all replaced about 6 months back.
Im begining to suspect the ECM, but i hope its not that. Ive already searched the local picknpulls and none of the mazdas have the same combination as mine. Id imagine id need to find one from a 93-94 mazda mx6 v6 5 speed, but it wont be easy... would a v6 probe or v6 626 ECM work as well?
Anyone have one for sale?
Anyone ever experience similar problems?
Any help is appreciated.
TIA
