- Club Meeting Recap -
Back on Feb 23, the Southern California Probe Owners Club had a member feeback meeting. This meeting was created to let member voice thier opinions about the SCPOC and matter concerning the club as a whole. We had 15 members show out of a 40+ active member base. This was a little disapointing yet was expected. It reflected the same feel for the overall SCPOC member partisipation. The SCPOC member partisipation in club functions has been decreasing on a steady basis and this concern prompted the meeting in the first place.
The meeting was held at Round Table pizza, located in Hacienda Heights. Our fearless leader Damon treated the attending members to free Pizza and drinks. Thanks Damon...
Listed below are the subjects of discussion at the meeting and some a little recap to bring members up to speed.
- SCPOC Website home page update: A member suggested that the cars shown on our home page look more like probes..
- Advanced Schedule of SCPOC events: This was suggested by a large amount of members. That was a little shocking as that would take away a lot of the member input on suggesting a next month event for the club. This suggestion was taken and Damon and I are preparing a calendar to create some events for the club and post them to you. Members will always be urged to suggest ideas for club functions as before. Right now we are only looking at setting up events a month or two in advance till we work out the new system.
ALSO members that suggest events and accept the challendge of setting up an event (autocross, picnic, tour, drive) will due the Right-Up for the event and send it to Damon or myself.
Members that have drives that they would like to share should work out all the details and send them in to us as soon as possible with the dates that you the member can host the event. That way we can work it into the SCPOC Calendar.
- More Drives: SCPOC members seemed to all share the passion of wanted more cruises or drives to be a part of the SCPOC events. Please note that drives should be pre-driven by the organizing member to insure that the roads used are still avalible and the directions are clear for all members. The length of the drive/cruise should be posted as well to let members know what they are getting into and on longer drives please remember to schedule a pit stop for food.
- More Car Shows: Typically we havent had a SCPOC car show and shine day. This is a suggested that we will be looking into in the future. At present the FFF at Knotts Berry Farm is your best oppertunity to show your ride with pride and support our club.
- Do more activities with our cars: I'm sure that this meant fewer BBQ or other social hangout events. I don't think we ever went away from that. We have had lots of Mod days and when ever we travel to a Beach event that's a (Caravan). If members can think up some new ways to promote activities with our cars please submit them... I've been throwing around a Rally idea that was suggested by Howard Chu. This is something totally different and could be a lot of fun.
- Once a Month Club meeting: I don't think that we can support that much member administration. I think that Damon was inclined to have Quarterly meetings to keep things running smoothly. Talk of having club meets in Nov. and Feb. were discussed.
- SCPOC News Letter: Today the SCPOC newsletter will be appearing on the[list] the [SCPOC thred on PT] and the [SCPOC thread FF] This will be one more form of official posting for the SCPOC. """The thread containing the SCPOC Newsletter is not to contain anything other than newsletters and all other posts will be deleted to lesson confusion"""
- SCPOC Stickers: Discussion was raised concerning the SCPOC stickers and when they will be available. I don't know when yet but Damon is looking into a new way of creating the stickers and perhaps even making a Die-cut sticker like some of the vinyl types out there.
- Meets on Sundays: We have primarily shied away from activities on Sundays due to lack of turnout. There will in the future be events scheduled on Sundays and if the lack of turn out remains consistent with past events then the SCPOC events will be help primarily on Sat.
- Instructor Assistance: We had requests for people who have modified cars to show up at mod days to show new members and some seasoned ones how to approach certain modifications and act as a mentor for all the mods that they have preformed on their cars.
- FFF: Fabulous Fords Forever show at Knott's Berry Farm. A show of hands was asked for volunteers for the FFF event. We didn't get anyone confirmed and we still need a few helpful people, so people please speak up to help support the club. It wont be an all day thing.
- Splitting the SCPOC: The SCPOC is currently a very large spread thin club. We know its a far drive for the San D. people to come here and its far for some of the So.Cal. people to drive down to San D. so we discussed splitting the club into two regions each with officers to promote, organize, and dictate club activates. This requires more discussion and we have an open floor for anyone's comments on this subject.
- Keeping the Family Feel: We are a car club and we are a group of people. There are a lot of friendships that have been created through this club and that makes Damon and I very happy. We want the club to feel like we are all part of a family we can call each other and talk about things and share ideas and socialize outside of group activates. It always been the feeling of the senior members to keep this club casual and friendly. We don't segregate people or pass judgment or discourage here. Its a club, but its also important to understand that we sometimes tease because we can. Just kidding..lol We know that that's acceptable with friends to joke around with each other. Thank you to all the member from Damon and I for keeping that family feel.
[ please post all your comments to new thread thank you ]

The Twist-O-Rama is a driving event that puts together the twistiest roads
in San Diego County back to back to back to back, and is an annual event of
the SoCal Miata Club. They have been gracious enough to let us accompany
them on this dry run of their event on the following day. This route design
makes this an event that is most likely to cause illness in the co-pilot
(their name for this is the Puke-O-Rama). Be sure to expect the
unexpected, and rest assured, this is a DRIVER'S event.
The event will be approximately 160 miles and end at Dalton's Roadhouse in
San Marcos for an early dinner, about 4:30.
ROUTE:
We will take Telegraph Canyon Road East and continue east approximately 7
miles. Telegraph Canyon Road turns into Otay Lakes Road at approximately the
halfway point. Make a right turn onto Wueste Road (follow signs) and
proceed about 1.5 miles to the entrance to the Olympic Training Center.
Food and Gas available all along Telegraph Canyon Road.
Much more information will follow in the upcoming days leading up to this
event. Those of you who want nothing better than to cruise the twisties in
your Probe......THIS IS YOUR EVENT!
