Want a probe whats the problem?
I found a sweet 89 GL automatic in perfect condition. No dents just had the heads done, timing belt, serpintine belt, all brakes and brake hardware, and exhaust replaced. Perfect paint and alloy wheels. It is the automatic with the manual button and power button. All $1000 but he said negotiable, thing is though it is very week.
Any idea what the problem could be? When taken for a test drive it couldn't spin the tires in dirt, you jump on the gas a kid on a bicycle, could pull on you, and it doesn't move if you put it in Low gear. We drove it 1/4 mile on a straight road and barly got 30mph out of it in the stretch. Also when hitting bumps you could here a clunk from the passenger side wheel.
He didn't put a new cap and rotor on yet just new wires, could that be causing this drain. I know they can hamper performance but didn't think this much. I was also thinking maybe the guy has the car set to retarded when he put the new timing belt on.
He thinks it might be the electronics in the transmission cause thats what his friend at a garage told him. If so how much would that cost? I am on a very tight budget about $1000-$1200. I hope you guys can help me out.
Any information in regards to these problems would be greatly appreciated.
