A mate of mine ran a 14.8 in his VU V6 ute first time at the strip.. only mods were exhaust and extractors, was a 5 speed with LSD. Was running consistent high 14's, low 15's all night.
I own an EF I6 with similar mods and doubt I could crack a 15 (yeah the auto doesn't help ) but I have never really thought of the commodore V6 being a slug.
Dont forget that once your basic standard engine mods are done (ie. zorst, cai and chip) you can get alot more pull with shorter diff gears. But there will have to be some thinking to be done as to whether over the 1/4 an extra gearshift in a manual especially will be beneficial or detrimental to getting a faster time

i reckon if you can cross the line just after peak power in 4th gear then your gering is perfect - the 3-4 shift in the T5 takes SFA time to do (flat shift it as well ) and i also reckon that 3rd and 4th ratios are closer than any of the others - 2nd to 3rd is a big hole, but 3-4 keeps the motor on the boil, so i think it is more benificial to rev it out in 4th rather than gear it to cross the line in third...
well, thats what i did with my car and it seemed to work...
i think i read about that white commo in a street commodores mag (while waiting to get my car dynoed!) if its the one im thinking of, it has a stage 3 cam and special heads, sheetmetal intake manifold and i a 4.3L stroker as well...total cost of the engine was MASSIVE, i couldnt believe it (like, 5 figures!!!!) it makes about 175kw at the wheels (cant remember if its auto or manual) it has about a 75 shot of N2O as well, but i dunno if it was used in the sub 14 second run.
lots of dough, not much go! it cost me less than 2k to go from 15.50 with a bog stock car to 14.50 with mods, we shall see how much it costs to get a 13.50... :) it seems 13s are possible with 175rwkw, and im after 250hp at the wheels (which is about 187rwkw depending on the conversion you use :s6: ) all in good time...

I can get new Genuine Holden/Ford/Audi/Land Rover/Honda parts cheap, PM me!
I've witnessed STOKEB run multiple mid 14's
The time sheets from our heathcote days are *never* complete and seem to always miss runs, i can vouch for that from 2 of the events.
RaceCraft: yep

Yep, that's Dale Bickham's VN, which has run a best of 13.69 @ 100.32 MPH. I'm pretty certain that run wasn't assisted by N2O though. By the way, it is backed by a V8 spec T-5 gearbox.
